Personal Thoughts
As important as the soundtrack music was to the movie, the score was equally pivotal in giving the movie its emotional feel. Revell's unique blend of traditional string music, voices, guitar and the addition of the Shakuhachi (an Indian instrument) helped to give the story its overall feeling of despair, sadness, and love. Revell has composed music for many other movies, but he was at his zenith of abilities when he put this music together. I can not imagine any other person that would have given us such a rich and unique score. The score music flows seamlessly with the soundtrack music. Revell wrote the song, "It Can't Rain All the Time", performed on the soundtrack CD by Jame Siberry. Its richly haunting lyrics and music are evidence as to how in touch with the movie's story Revell was.
