Comic Overview
This Crow tale gives us a new avatar, Ashe Corvin. Ashe and his son Danny are murdered after witnessing a drug gang execute a man near the shop in which Ashe works. Sarah, from the first movie, is grown up and living in the City of Angels (LA). She works in a tattoo parlor. Haunted by dreams of Ashe and Danny's deaths, Sarah is drawn in by the Crow to help Ashe understand his mission to set the wrong things right. In his course to get revenge, Ashe falls in love with Sarah, putting his soul in turmoil. Judah Earl, the leader of the gang that killed Ashe and Danny, discovers the way to sever Ashe's connection to this other world is through the destruction of the Crow. Ashe must complete his mission before his feelings for Sarah consume him and Judah's deed is done.
Personal Thoughts
Seeing a Crow comic in color took a bit of getting used to after the initial black and white issues. The art is decent. Judah Earl, the Top Dollar equivilant bad guy, is rendered more cartoonish than the other characters which is a bit distracting. I enjoyed the way the ending to the story was handled in the comic versus the way the movie ended. Not the best entry in The Crow comic sagas, but it is a good story. Like the movie, the comic only taps into the conflict that Ashe is going through because of his love for Sarah. At the end of each volume there is an interview with one of the three stars of the movie. The interviews are taken from The Crow: City of Angels Diary of the Film book. Vincent Perez, Mia Kirshner & Iggy Pop are the spotlighted interviews. A graphic novel format is also available.
