No Comparison

Key To the Article:

link-connection between crow projects by comparison.           vulnerable-to falling in love with the next project.

As new crow fans arise, the fan base of the crow becomes larger. As major crow fans seem to follow the pattern of comparison (to the first movie), the original fan base of "die-hard" crow fans becomes endangered. The comparison is the problem, it's not  the producer's/writer's/actor's problem, it's all in the minds of those fans that are losing their faith.

The main reason I feel this way is because I loved everything of the crow that I've ever seen or read. And yes, I loved City of Angels and Stairway to Heaven. The reason for that is because I never compared them to one another. I watched City of Angels as a new movie, not a sequel. Same goes for Stairway to Heaven. Comparison will leave only a half open mind, and in most fans' beliefs, will lead to failure of new crow projects (especially movie sequels/spin-offs). The future of the crow will cease to exist if everything we experience is compared. WE make the new crow projects happen, not the producers or writers. WE control whether or not there will be a new movie or a new book. Without the support of the fans (us) nothing new would be made. Believe it or not, WE make the fate of the crow.

"People once believed that when someone dies, a crow carries their soul to the land of the dead. Sometimes when something so bad happens, there is a terrible sadness carried within, and the soul can't rest, then sometimes, just sometimes, the crow will bring that soul back to put the wrong things right."

We've heard it all before, why do they keep repeating it to us? We were meant to be able to experience the next, as a first, not a next. You can watch City of Angels, Salvation, or Stairway to Heaven without seeing the original movie, and you'll understand every bit of it (might not understand a few items, Eric's cat, the ring, the mask, but you'll get the story). It was made that way so we could experience a brand new story, not a brand new chapter.

Without an open mind and with criticism before anything is really seen, (I know a lot of people complained about the hair and outfit of Alex, and I know a REAL lot of people are complaining about Lazarus) you can't appreciate a movie as something different, you have that comparison that is already a road to disappointment. The disappointment leads to lost faith, which leads to the extinction of the crow.

"Set things right" in your minds. Instead of looking at the next crow movie, novel, or comic as another episode in a series, look at it as a new story, something completely different. I know it's not possible to think that the original movie (or whatever brought you into the world of the crow) never existed, because whatever you're watching or reading, you're most likely watching/reading it because you liked what you've seen. Just keep an open mind to all future crow projects. Like I said, comparison leads to failure.

"Sever that link, and you're as vulnerable as the next man."

 Take care.
