Dead Time Wins Hands Down

In one of the most lopsided polls we have ran, Dead Time was voted by you as favorite Crow comic to come out since the original comic series. Dead Time took 88% of the 400 votes cast (btw, huge thanks for another large response). Next in line was Flesh & Blood, which captured 5% of the vote. Waking Nightmares pulled in 3%, the Image series had 2%. And rounding out the votes was Wild Justice and Crow/Razor each receiving 1% of the vote. Was a bit surprised that my personal favorites, Wild Justice and Waking Nightmares did not fair better.

The new POLL is up. This time, we are asking you what element about “The Crow: City of Angels” if changed, would have made it more successful. Over the course of time, more and more fans have come to enjoy COA, but what do you think initially would have helped it gain a better response from fans? A big thanks goes out to Oktober Knight for the poll topic suggestion.

Go check out the POLL and vote and have a great weekend!

Where Are They Now? Fred Ward Captain (The Crow: Salvation)

Fred Ward is probably one of the most recognizable faces to be a part of a Crow project. Fred comes from a mixed Irish and Cherokee Indian background. He has been one of the busiest character actors in Hollywood, though early in the 80's, with the film "Remo Williams" he attempted to start a leading man career that never took off. Fred garnered early recognition for his roles in "Escape From Alcatraz" and "The Right Stuff". Proving to be a versatile actor, Fred has starred in over 60 feature films. Ranging from the serious such as "Silkwood", to comedy, "Naked Gun 33 1/3", Fred is never not seen on the silver screen for long. Most of his television work has been made for TV films, however his rough-cut looks garnered him 3 appearances on the late 70's TV series "The Hulk".

Having worked as a lumberjack in Alaska, as well as being a former boxer and martial artist, Fred's physical prowess has help lend longevity to his acting career. Unlike a lot of actors who have appeared as villains in Crow films, Fred has maintained a steady run of work since his work on "The Crow: Salvation", appearing in 13 films. Most notably "Joe Dirt" as well as "Summer Catch" which both came out in 2001. Fred has two films coming out in 2002 entitled "Abandon" and "Enough". There are rumors that a "Tremors 3" is in the works, though no talk of his involvement as of yet. Of course, most fans know Fred from the previous two Tremors films, the first one opposite Kevin Bacon for which they garnered critical praise and a cult following.

Thanks to Maniax187 for the update on "Summer Catch".

ABaHB, SciFi.com's Site of the Week

On the week of September 17th, ABaHB had the honor of winning site of the week! We'd like to thank all Crow Fans out there for your long time support and SciFi.com for their choice. This just spurs us on to work harder for Crow News!

"From its early life as a goth comic series, The Crow has developed into a dark and multilimbed franchise, spawning films, a TV program, novels ... and an enormous number of fans. A Boy and His Bird is a gathering place on the Web for those interested in James O'Barr's avenging angel, a top-notch source of data and community alike.

The amount of information available on this Web page is, simply put, massive. Surfers will find interviews, fanfic, images, discussion boards and data on where to buy Crow merchandise. The news page is up to date and its archives are extensive, going back to 1996. A Boy and His Bird also has reviews of all the major Crow offerings. While dealing at length with the graphic novels and movies, the site's staff also finds time to offer synopses and individual comments for episodes of the TV series.

Essays and articles abound on the page. The most interesting, at least recently, deal with an ongoing discussion about upcoming Crow films, and rumors that a future project might be female-led. A Girl and Her Bird? The prospect makes for some lively posts and essays, definitely not to be missed.

With the loving attention paid to both look and content, A Boy and His Bird excels on every front. Not only is it superbly designed and endlessly informative, it is also a great deal of fun." — A.M. Dellamonica

Proyas' "Garage Days" close to completing

Garage Days: "The Crow" Director Alex Proyas spoke with Dave Warner's official site about how his latest film (basically Proyas' spin on "Almost Famous") is progressing: "We've just finished shooting and we're in the editing mode right now. There's another week of shooting which we're doing in December to coincide with Homebake (Aussie music festival) and we're going to be doing a few other bits and pieces at that stage. We've designed this project in an interesting fashion. I've tried to leave myself a window of opportunity to shoot bits and pieces - when you're editing a film you always find gaps here and there and it's nice to have the luxury of being able to fill those gaps. We had to construct this production around this whole thing of shooting a scene around the Homebake concert. It also gives us a side-efect of having this chance to augment scenes here and there, so it's worked out quite nicely". Proyas also confirmed Warner's screenplay "Drill It" is also in development at his production company.

Lazarus Casting

As we all know, the movie LAZARUS, starring DMX, which was to be a Crow movie is now NOT a Crow movie, but since it does have some Crow-history to it, here is some interesting casting information that came in to the ABaHB box the other day that I thought we would pass on. Farrah Franklin, formerly of Destiny's Child, is set to play DMX's wife in the film. No info on when the film will see the screens, but this is the first piece of news we have heard since it was reported LAZARUS was not going to be a Crow film. Thanks to Josh for the info.

Words To Help Ease The Pain

Fans of the STH series will remember the excellent song "Goodbye" performed by the Painkillers. Recently, Cherish Alexander, lead singer for the Painkillers and songwriter of "Goodbye", posted this response to the recent events. Give it a look. The words of the song and its meaning are perfect for a time such as this.

Response

Thanks to Joy Toney for passing this on to us…….

ABaHB Visitors Show Up In Force

Other than our widely publicized STH poll, our last poll asking you which incarnation of the Crow you felt was the definitive telling of love, death and revenge, generated the highest response we have ever had. We had 800 responses to the poll! A huge thanks to you for responding to the poll. We take the information gathered from these very serious, as do those in the entertainment community. So a big thanks for taking the time to let your voice be heard. Now to the results.

As I expected, 51% of the fans voted the comics as their number one choice of the definitive place to find the essence of the Crow. Next, with 28% of the vote, the television series came in second, an upset of sorts to be sure. The films came in 3rd place with 18% of the vote and with 3%, the novels rounded out the voting. I say STH coming in second is an upset because the films and comics are usually touted in many of the Crow circles as the definitive sources of the Crow. It appears the series continues to gain more respect from fans.

Now, we are on to our next poll. We want to know which of the Crow comic series has been your favorite. There have been six series since the original comic. Four put out by Kitchen Sink Press, one by London Night (Crow/Razor) and of course the Image series. So let us know which one, in your opinion, has been the best since the original.

Take care......amf

Chicago Comic Convention Update

We have now received our third confirmation that there was a couple of guys selling a "Crow" film at the Chicago Comic Convention. Evidentially, there was a bootleg area setup for the sale of certain dubiously copied and created movies. No confirmation on the content though. Guess this one is going to go down like Big Foot as something folks have seen but no actual copy/specimen to prove it beyond a shadow of a doubt. Again, anyone having purchased this video, give me a holler at LLcruize@yahoo.com .

Look for a new poll, an update on the former Crow movie "Lazarus" the latest 'Where are they now' segment and other updates in the coming days, so keep on coming back!

Take care.....amf

In Memory Of Thuy Trang

We have learned that Thuy Trang, who portrayed Kali in the second Crow movie; "The Crow: City of Angels", was killed in an automobile accident during the Labor Day weekend in San Francisco. Of course, before COA, she was famous for her portrayal of the Yellow Ranger from the FOX TV series "Power Rangers". Her funeral service was held on Sept 10th ( These are pictures from the service. They show her co-stars from the POWER RANGERS, Amy Jo Johnson and David Yost, in attendance). Also, we have an update posted on a Fox TV Power Ranger club site, which has an audio file of the official announcement taken from a television news report, as well as a memorial page. We had delayed reporting the news as it was suspected to be an Internet rumor. However, through other sources and websites, it appears the news is unfortunately true. Our condolences go out to her family and friends.

Memorial Site For The Sept 11th tragedy

Corvus and Undedgurl have put together a memorial site for the Sept 11th tragedy. Please go check it out. Has a detailed listing of the events, followed by pictures, stories and a place for fans to post their thoughts. Also, they have listed websites and phone numbers you can use to reach persons to volunteer time, money or whatever. Give it a look.

September 13th-17th, 2001

A Time Of Reflection, Remembrance & Resolve

We will get back to our usual Crow updates soon. Out of respect for the emotions of the last few days, we felt it best to not go back to "business as usual" and instead give you time of reflection. The people of not only America, but all free nations, should reflect on the last few days. We should remember the acts of heroism and those who have given the ultimate sacrifice. We should resolve not to allow terrorism to dictate our lives.

We will surely never be the same after this. The people of nations that are free can all become stronger and more determined than ever to raise the flags of our respective nations high in the air and proclaim we shall march on.

Be sure that you check with your local blood banks and other volunteer agencies to see if you can help. Keep everyone involved; injured, dead & rescuers/caregivers in your thoughts and prayers.

Take care......LLcruize & Irony Despair

ABaHB Sends Out Thought & Prayers

This will be a day that many in the U.S. and abroad will point to as the day innocence and faith were lost. The innocence that we are safe from the evil of the world and the faith that we can be protected from it. In what has been described as an act perpetrated by cowards, the largest city in the U.S. and the Pentagon came under attack. Our thoughts and prayers go out to those who have family members either missing, hurt or confirmed dead. Our continued thoughts and prayers go to the men and women who are helping to take care of the wounded and trying to rescue any survivors.

The only way to truly combat acts such as this is to carry forward, to rise up, brush the dust off our backs and march on. We have learned that there is no place free of terror. But we must not live our life in fear of it. We have to look it in the eye and say it will not defeat us.

Take care.....LLcruize and Irony Despair

Chicago Comic Con Update

A follow up on the story we reported last week in reference to a fan-made Crow film being available at the August Chicago Comic Con. First, a little more history on the film. It seems the film is rumored to be either a remake or re-edited version completed by a couple of film students. Earlier this year, a fan performed a similar re-edit of "Phantom Menace" which became a major hot property over the net.

There is a feeling of late that the report was false, that no such film exists. Our source has not been able to reach the makers of the film to verify it does exist.

Our source is trying to run down some leads and will be back in touch later in the week. Thanks to JK for the information.

If anyone out there has information in regard to this film, email me at LLcruize@yahoo.com .

Take care.....amf

Mark Dacascos' "Brotherhood Of The Wolf" Trailer & Review

In Friday's report over at Dark Horizons, they have a link to 13th Street who has a trailer and review of "Brotherhoodof the Wolf ". Go check it out. The movie is getting tremendous buzz from reviewers (it already has done well in France). The trailer is fantastic. This could be the movie that gets Mark thrust into the mainstream.

In the usual monthly sense, we've moved the news back to make way for the future of The Crow! What will this month bring? Chicago Comic Convention Report

We have received a report that during the recent Chicago Comic Convention there were some college students selling a fan-made Crow movie. They set up a booth with a trailer for the movie playing. Evidently this was a hot item as they sold out of the video the first day. This is reported to not be the Ullman video, but a brand new one. From the report we received, based on the trailer, the film looked very gritty, dark and edgy. Anyone that attended the Chicago Comic Convention and purchased the video please send me a review of it. We will post it here, with of course props going to whoever sends us reviews in.

Thanks to Anthony for the heads up.

Stairway to Heaven on DVD

The first two episodes of STH are now on DVD! The only catch is the DVD is Region 4 - Australia. There are no extra features on the dvd, it's very much like the VHS rental version in format. For Australians wishing to watch STH on television, it's on Sunday mornings at 4am on Channel 8 of 'Foxtel.' If you live in other regions and want STH on DVD, it may be worth your while investing on a mutli-regioned DVD player and order your copy!
