Where are They Now?

Eric Mabius - Alexander Frederick Corvis (The Crow: Salvation)

Eric Mabius was born on April 21, 1971. He is a graduate of Sarah Lawrence College, where he studied film, dance, and sculpture. One of Eric's first high profile roles was in the film "Welcome to the Dollhouse", which was well received. His work remained on the independent side with films like "Lawn Dogs" and "Black Circle Boys". Prior to his casting in "The Crow: Salvation", he was seen in "Cruel Intentions". Eric has a past history with The Crow. He had originally tried out for the part of FunBoy in the original movie.

Eric has appeared in the series "Party of Five", "Chicago Hope" and "Millennium" , which Salvation" scribe Chip Johannessen was a writer for.

Eric has continued to be busy since "Salvation". He appeared in "On The Borderline" in 2000. This year, he is in "Tempted" and in 2002, fans can catch him in the much anticipated film "Resident Evil".

Official Word Announced From Pressman Films On Crow 4 Status

Regular visitors to ABaHB already were already aware of today's "official" report from Pressman, but here is the confirmation that was reported on Dark Horizons today:

The Crow 4: Edward M. Pressman Productions still considers "The Crow" franchise a viable property and indicates a fourth film is on the way, but not the DMX-headed "Lazarus" project you may have heard of. A source for the company says "We're talking about turning one of our CROW novels into a movie, and we're talking to a name director about doing a female Crow. This is a director who could attract name talent, and for some reason he happens to like THE CROW". What about Rob Zombie's proposed "The Crow: 2087"? It may be still made as a stand-alone: "We still might do that—just use the script. It would probably work better in animation, because there's a lot of weird stuff in it that would be hard to pull off unless you had a Tim Burton". Thanks to 'Brian'.

Scribes Tapped For Proyas Project 'Along the Scenic Route'

Here is an update on Alex Proyas from Cinescape:

Paramount Pictures has tapped scribes Cyrus Vorris and Ethan Reiff to write the script for a futuristic action film called DRIVE, based on Harlan Ellison's short story "Along the Scenic Route."

Alex Proyas (DARK CITY, THE CROW) is attached to direct the coming film, which Topher Dow will produce.

Set 20 years in the future, the film will tell a story where the highways are no longer patrolled by the police and "dueling" is legal and good for TV ratings. One man decides to get his revenge with his car as a weapon when his girlfriend is accidentally killed by highway duelers.

Where Are They Now?

Vincent Perez Ashe Corven in THE CROW: CITY OF ANGELS (COA)

Though making his living in French films and sporting a French accent, Vincent is not French. His father is Spanish and his mother German. He was born in Switzerland. No other actor that has taken on the mantle of the lead actor in a Crow feature has come to it with as an impressive resume as Vincent did. Prior to COA, Vincent was an established actor overseas in French films, winning several awards to include the French equivalent of the Oscar, as well as having directed a feature. His excellent work in films like "Queen Margot" and "Indochina" helped bring his rising star to the attention of the COA producers.

Since his work on COA, Vincent has made 15 feature films, directing 3 of them. He has appeared in films such as "Swept From The Sea", "Shot Through The Heart", "The Treat", "Talk Of Angels" and "I Dreamed Of Africa". Recently, Vincent could be seen in the films "Bride Of The Wind" and "The Husband I Bought".

Vincent can be seen in the upcoming Anne Rice novel adaptation "Queen Of The Damned". He recently wrapped up another directorial project, Peau d'ange, which was co-written by his wife Karine Sylla (this is his 4th directed feature). Vincent and Karine have a beautiful 2 year old daughter named Iman.

During the Marrakech International Film Festival that took place Sept 28th - October 2nd, in Rabat, Morocco, Vincent stepped in and lent his support to the festival after several American actors declined to attend after the terrorist attacks. His ongoing support of human rights issues had him attending a concert held at the Chateau de Vincennes to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the abolition of the death penalty in France.

Photo and information on what Vincent has been up to lately found on the excellent Vincent Perez fan website ran by Coy moon.

ABaHB Takes Q&A To The Next Level

In an ongoing attempt to keep our visitors the most informed on the net in regard to The Crow, we have made a substantial update to our already comprehensive Q&A section. Many sites add a Q&A or FAQ (frequently asked questions) section out of obligation since it is a standard part of any fan site. We at ABaHB however want ours to be a living, breathing and functional part of our site. So we update the Q&A every month. We now have over 45 questions & answers that address almost every aspect of The Crow from the comic through the Crow 4 rumors. This month, we have made many updates to include hyperlinks that will take you to sites that give you the history of the actual crow mythology as well as the complete 'Raven' poem by Edgar Allen Poe. On top of the updated questions and new questions in this months edition, we have totally redesigned the page to make it easier for you to navigate. The first window has a new introduction. Below it is hyperlinks to the different question sections. Before, you had to page down through all of the sections, now you can jump to the section you want. So go give the Q&A a look. Even if you checked it out last week, your going to find tons of new information.

Take care.....amf

Darkhorizons Keeps Movie Fans Updated

Visitors to ABaHB have frequently seen us identify Darkhorizons as one of our sources of information. We are adding them to our links page. It is a great site to go and find information about movies and television shows. Garth Franklin, webmaster of the site, updates Mon-Fri and always has great information.

Look for a MAJOR update to the Q&A tomorrow. We have really done some serious adding and cleaning up of the questions.

Take care.....amf

Other Updates

We've been keeping busy over the site over the past week or so, cleaning up some html problems and welcoming back the ABaHB Guestbook! From most of the pages in the site, the horrible thought of 'Lazarus' has been cleaned away for 'The Crow 4' and in the movie sections, some new features have been added. There's plenty more to come!

O'Barr's "Savages" Out

Fans of pre-Crow work from James O'Barr have a new collection of drawings put together in a compilation entitled "Savages" to feast their eyes on. It is sword and sorcery type of drawings. O'Barr was/is a big fan of Barry Smith's rendition of Conan. These drawings are from 1987. Check with your local comic store for this collection. If they do not have it in stock, have them order it for you.

Thanks to Zerstorung, frequent visitor to the ChambeRoom for reporting this news.

Take care.....amf

Poll Results In

Another big turnout for the ABaHB poll.

We appreciate the effort. We asked what you thought might have helped “The Crow: City Of Angels” be more successful in its original release. We had close to 600 responses. Overwhelming, fans voted that no references to the first movie would have made COA more successful (74%). The next most popular was Miramax using the original Tim Pope cut, rather than their MTV styled hacked up cut (15%). After that, everything else was pretty even. We had 5% say less S&M sex scenes would have made the movie more enjoyable. Another 3% felt more flashbacks were needed, followed by 2% who thought a female avatar might have been a better route. Finally, 1% voted that no relationship between Ashe & Sarah would have helped the film.

I was not surprised with the #1 choice. I remember distinctly back in 1996 many fans saying they wish Sarah and all other references to the first movie were left out. The folks at Pressman must have heard the cries of no references to the first movie when they did Salvation. By and large, it has received far more initial favorable reaction than COA did and I think that has a lot to do with the independent nature of the story.

Now, on to the next poll. We want to know who you would like to see pen a Crow novel. Want to thank Jason Cammisa for suggesting the poll and Monique for helping with the choices. So go and take a look and vote!

Be on the look out for an update to the ABaHB Q&A section this week. As always, we update our Q&A monthly. This month, it has quit a few new questions added alongside the frequently asked questions.

Take care…..amf

Dimension Films New Project

Crow fans who are also fans of the video game "Alone In The Dark" have some good news being reported by Cinescape today. Seems the Crow film distributor Dimension Films is picking up the rights to the movie version of the game:

Word has it that Dimension Films has acquired the film rights to the ALONE IN THE DARK horror video game.

According to Coming Attractions, scribe Hans Rodionoff (MAN-THING) pitched the idea, and will write the film's script. CA's source says that the coming film will tell a story very close to the original vid game, which finds supernatural investigators stranded on an island swarming with bloodthirsty supernatural creatures.

Good to see Dimension Films coming out with something other than kiddie friendly fonder like the "Spy Kids" entry earlier this year. No word on any Crow projects coming from them though.

Take care.....amf

Where Are They Now?

Bobbie Phillips Hannah Foster (The Crow: Stairway To Heaven)

Bobbie has a special place in many Crow fans hearts. She is to date, the only woman to have taken on a female avatar role within The Crow other than those found in the comics and novels. Her gritty portrayal of Hannah Foster in two episodes of the series has continued discussion among fans that she should have her own series focusing on her character.

Bobbie was born on January 29th, 1972 in Charleston, South Carolina. She has only worked in the business a little over 10 years, but she has managed to make an immediate impact, especially at playing strong, seductive roles. Most of her work has been on television where she has appeared in over 20 television series, as well as 7 made for television movies. Outside of her role in STH, she is best known for her portrayal of 'Kam' in the three "Chameleon" TV movies produced by Paramount. Series, which she has appeared on, are "Two Guys & a Girl", "Seven Days", "The Magnificent Seven", "Bay Watch", "Silk Stalkings" and "Married With Children".

Since her stint on STH, Bobbie has kept busy by playing a wide variety of roles in TV and features. Some of her post-STH work includes the feature "Carnival Of Souls", the three "Chameleon" movies already mentioned. Her most recent work includes "Red Shoe Diaries 14", "The Hustler", and "Chameleon 3: Dark Angel".

Given her talent and looks, we should be seeing Bobbie in many more projects. Perhaps when a female lead is finally brought to a Crow film, she will get a look.

Thanks to Oktober Knight for suggesting we take a look at Bobbie.

Take care…..amf
