| A Boy and His Bird News November 2003 It has been a while since we had a Crow film get a theatrical run. Do you remember what the first two films made in their opening weekends? What about how much they made total at the domestic box office? Well here are the numbers to refresh your memory: The Crow - Opened on the weekend of May 13th, 1994 and took in $11,774,332 on 1,573 screens that weekend. When it was done domestically, The Crow made $50,693,129. The Crow: City of Angels - Opened on the weekend of August 30th, 1996 and took in $9,785,111 on 2,423 screens (was the record for the Labor Day holiday weekend until the record was broken by Jeepers Creepers 2 this year). When COA was done domestically, it made $17,917,287. Though the sequel made far less than the original, unlike other franchises, the Crow movies have all been able to make back their production cost at the theater. Let's hope that Wicked Prayer is given the chance to keep this streak going next year. We have a follow up report on the news Bloody Disgusting reported last week in reference to the Wicked Prayer release date and trailer. After doing some digging around, there is, at this time, no plans to officially release any sort of trailer for Wicked Prayer before the end of the year. Now, that does not mean a bootleg copy of the international trailer couldn't surface some place. But through "official" means, there are no plans. Also, the release date for the U.S. has not been set. The film's first cut has yet to be screened by Miramax/Dimension, so any talk of a U.S. release date right now is premature. The late summer time frame would probably be the earliest the film would come out, but at this time, nothing is set for the U.S. release. As always, all of this information is subject to change like the wind, so keep up with us daily for further updates. Take care…..
There will be no updates to the News section starting Saturday, November 22nd through Saturday, November 29th. But that doesn't mean we will not be lurking about on the net during that week. Go over to our discussion section at the ChambeRoom daily to see if there have been any late breaking updates. In the mean time, here are two final updates before we go on holiday: DragonFly DragonFly is still taking pre-orders for the upcoming "Dance Of The Dead" figure. Reports from folks who got a glimpse of this figure at the recent comic conventions have been VERY favorable. Act quickly, they are selling these fast! Don't forget there will be variants of this figure, to include a larger 12" inch figure, coming out next year. Croween 2K3 Your time to get an entry in for Croween 2k3 is just about up! Deadline is Saturday, November 22nd. Get over to the CrowFanClub and submit your photos NOW! They are offering some fantastic prizes, there is no reason not to enter this contest people, so get off your arss and get those entries in!
According to IMDB, the latest Crow film, Wicked Prayer, is set to be released theatrically August 5th, 2004 in Russia. No other details in regard to other countries, to include the U.S., so we will have to wait and see. Have not received confirmation on this from our production sources, so will take this IMDB information with a grain of salt. Here is the post: http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0353324/releaseinfo This does sound like a viable release date however. We have been reporting that the first cut of the film was close to being sent to Miramax. Current information passed on indicates that deliver will not take place until early 2004. So given the time it takes to do additional cuts (you KNOW the boys at Miramax will not sign off without a few cuts), promotion, test screenings, research, etc, an August 2004 release seems reliable. Though, would caution any speculation as to that being the time the U.S. would have it in theaters as movies are USUALLY out earlier in the States. We will just have to wait and see and we will continue hunting down more information. This also does not mean Wicked Prayer is definitely coming to theaters in the U.S. If you remember from Salvation, it got a single early overseas theatrical release only to be direct to video everywhere else. Thanks to CJFGJ1 for the heads up on this release date. Take care.... Stunts Karen from Totally David Boreanaz sends this along:
It's a small world! COA on TV It may be a bit late, but stay tuned for repeats. Nicholas Navarro sends word that City of Angels was shown on Sunday night on the Houston Texas Paramount Channel. With all this Crow circulation, the more hype built for The Crow 4 is a positive step in the right direction!
As many should know that visit ABaHB, DragonFly has a VERY cool new mini-statue coming out this December called the "Dance of the Dead". The mini-statue is currently available at DragonFly for pre-ordering, but act fast! They have 72% of the 1250 available Regular Editions pre-sold. Along with the Regular edition, they have a Bloody Variant (with severed hand on the base and bloody sword) that will be limited to just 750 copies. They anticipate this to be a Diamond Distributor Exclusive, but this is still pending final negotiations. And that is not all! There will be a Megacon Red Nights Edition available as well, limited to only 100, available at Megacon this year. There will also be a blank edition of the "Dance of the Dead" mini-statue for Crow artists and completists (limited to only 100 as well). Get out and put your pre-orders in for the Regular Edition and keep a look out for the variants that will be available soon. Take Care
Halloween has long since come and gone, the buzz of that night should have worn off by now. Hopefully, you took pictures of the evening so that you could enter the Croween2k3 contest sponsored by the CrowFanClub. If not, no worry, you have until the end of November to get an idea together and submit your rendition of either a classic Crow movie/book character, or perhaps, come up with an original character. Either way, check out CrowFanClub for the official rules and get those pictures submitted soon! Take care.....
We have reported numerous theater screenings of the first Crow movie the past couple of weeks. Now we have our first one from the U.K. to report: "Hello, just a devoted Crow fan here from across the pond, thought I'd let you know that one of the cinemas where I live (Isle of Wight, England) are showing The Crow this Thursday Nov 6 at 9:15 pm as part of their "Fright Night" classic film screenings. Not only that but it only costs £2.50 to get in and it's in the cinemas delux screen so we get extra comfort for us lucky few to enjoy our favourite film in. Just thought I'd let you know about this event as I know how rare it is for The Crow to get screenings these days, keep up the good work, thanks, Matt Reynolds. " Thanks to Matt for this update. Seems to be a major resurgent of The Crow lately. Even though it was the Halloween season, still seemed like there were more theater screenings of the film than in previous years. I would imagine we will see even more with the 10th anniversary coming up soon. Speaking of the 10th anniversary, do not forget later this month, or early December, a 10 year retrospective (done in documentary style) of The Crow, being produced by Starz, will be shown on Encore. The folks over at the Crowfanclub should be getting us some updated news on this real soon, so keep checking in for that. Take care.......... Workprint Online Nicholas sends news that the illusive Crow Workprint has now been digitised by a fan and is online for mass consumption! Knowing Miramax, you may want to pick this up quick, and for those that haven't seen the rough piece, the special edition DVD gave it adequate representation. Click here to check it out.
