Superherohype.com posts this update on Wicked Prayer filming: Where Will The Crow: Wicked Prayer Film? Columnists Marilyn Beck and Stacy Jenel Smith report that "Angel" star David Boreanaz will soon be taking off for Salt Lake City to begin shooting on Dimension's The Crow: Wicked Prayer. With him will be wife Jaime Bergman and their 1-year-old son Jaden. Bergman says they'll be shooting practically in her old back yard. Declares the Utah native, "The movie is shooting literally just five minutes away from my mom's house. It's a really nice coincidence.'"
Recently signed on to the THE CROW: WICKED PRAYER as the character "War", Marcus Chong has filed a lawsuit against the makers of another genre film you might have heard of, THE MATRIX. The following article was posted on the ChambeRoom by long time friend Sugar Rat which contains a mention of Wicked Prayer in it: Tank will not be bulldozed. At least that's the message delivered in a lawsuit filed by the actor who helped save Keanu Reeves' holy butt in the first Matrix movie. In the suit, Marcus Chong, best known to sci-fi fans as the driving force that was Tank, claims he was "blackball[ed]" and branded a "terrorist" by producers after his character was derailed from the sequels, according Los Angeles' City News Service. Warner Bros. and the writing-directing Wachowski Brothers' Eon Productions are among the named defendants, per the wire service. Chong's lawsuit, alleging breach of contract, slander and fraud, seeks the six figures he says he would have banked from the two new flicks, plus interest and other unspecified damages. The Tank-less Matrix Reloaded drove home with $91.8 million last weekend, the second biggest three-day opening ever. The Matrix Revolutions, the trilogy's concluding chapter, is scheduled to start turning in November. Like its predecessor, Revolutions will not feature Tank, or Chong. In Reloaded, newbie Zee (Nona Gay), Tank's sister, explains Tank's absence by saying he died during a mission on the Nebuchadnezzar. Link (Harold Perrineau), intro'd as Zee's hubby/Tank's brother-in-law, is at the controls of Morpheus' ship for the sequels. In the original 1999 flick, Tank's Chong stood alongside Reeves' Neo, Carrie-Anne Moss' Trinity and Morpheus' Laurence Fishburne as the only humans to outlast, outplay and outwit their machine nemeses. It's not clear why the actor, the 35-year-old adopted son of recently smoked-out comedian Tommy Chong, did not return for the sequels. In previous reports about the Link-for-Tank move, neither Warners nor Chong commented on his absence. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Chong copped to crashing a press junket, snatching food from production offices and crank-yanking the Wachowskis. All of this bad behavior, though, came after Chong had already been unloaded from Reloaded. As to what got him unloaded in the first place? Warners isn't commenting on the lawsuit. Calls to Chong's attorney and the Wachowskis' Eon Entertainment were not immediately returned Monday. In documents posted on the fan site, the Marcus Chong as Tank Coalition (boycottthematrix.com), a grassroots Web campaign protesting the actor's franchise freeze out, the dispute is shown to have centered on money. The site credits yet another pro-Chong site, the We Want Tank Coalition (www.geocities.com/wwtcoalition), with originally obtaining the material. In an undated letter reputedly from Chong to Andy and Larry Wachowski, a string of deep-sounding, but vague thoughts ("Why suggest that either my faiths of anarchy must be chosen or my goals for profit."), give way to a bottom line: An offer of $250,000 for the two sequels is unacceptable. Either the studio will meet his price ($500,000, plus bonuses and guarantees he'll be invited to press junkets and premieres)...or he'll do the movies for free. "I will do it for free because I love our project and want to protect the role and the integrity of the brothers' vision," Chong reputedly wrote. In an October 2000 letter reputedly from the Wachowskis to Chong, the siblings, hailed as "mighty knights [who] shall truly break into Valhalla," in the Chong missive, say they understand the actor's stance, but think "it is in the best interest of all parties to move on." In the aftermath, Chong's lawsuit claims producers "conspired to blackball [Chong] from further professional acting work in Hollywood and took efforts to defame [him]," City News Service reported. An actor since childhood, Chong recently began work on his first post-Matrix flick, The Crow: Wicked Prayer. The efforts of the two-year-old Marcus Chong as Tank Coalition, meanwhile, continue--even if both sequels are shot, in the can, and, in the case of Reloaded, in theaters. Webmaster Kira Jones says the group's letter-writing campaign will endure at least through the release of Revolutions. Aside from the fact that he's really cute, one of the things we really like about Tank is that we could really identify with him...We're all geeks, for lack of a better word," says Jones, a programmer. "I think Tank kind of represents [us]--he was the one who made things happen." Thanks to Sugar Rat for posting this. Take care.....come what may.
Frequent visitor CJFGJ1 sends us an update that there are some recent photos of Edward Furlong that are up on the net. Go to www.wireimage.com and do a search on Edward Furlong. Will bring up a group of photos. The top ones are from just a few weeks ago. Ed looks really good in the recent photos, very much how I envisioned the character Jimmy Cuervo to look. Pre-production continues on Wicked Prayer. The cameras are scheduled to role in a matter of weeks now, so more information should start flowing soon. Thanks to CJFGJ1 for the heads up. Take care.....come what may.
Karen sends this along:
This wonderful news only increases the attention that Wicked Prayer will have! Time is drawing ever closer to the commencement of filming, so stay tuned for a whole lot more.
It has been a couple weeks since the big casting news was announced. The wheels continue to move forward with pre-production efforts in full force (financing, other casting, etc). Look for news on more casting soon (one of the actors in discussions to join Wicked Prayer was recently in a recent network TV high profile project). Hope everyone enjoyed our preview/review of the Wicked Prayer script. As a protective measure for the integrity/confidentiality of the script, any and all materials in regard to the script have either been returned or destroyed. I have my personal notes, but that is all. I have been entrusted with these kinds of things through the years and will not compromise that trust. I hope you understand this and know that we will release information as quickly and widely as we can when we are able to. One thing that I can add to the review/preview is that though the script is based on the book, it is very much its own entity. It would not surprise me if somewhere down the road they go with a different name to kind of distance it from the book's story. But, at this point, with all the momentum going forward under the name "Wicked Prayer", that might not be a viable option. It is my honest opinion that the story is one of the best to date and I hope what is on paper is translated to the screen. In news related to Wicked Prayer, David Boreanaz (Luc Crash in Wicked Prayer) received good news on Monday that his series "Angel" will be back for a 5th season. This can only help sway the powers that be Wicked Prayer has the star power to go theatrical when released. Congrats to David and here is hoping his good news rubs off on the Wicked Prayer project! Take care.....come what may.
ABaHB brings to you the first review/preview of the script for the up coming Crow movie, Wicked Prayer. The intent of the review/preview is not to give away any of the major story points of the film. This is a spoiler free review, anyone looking for a "tell all" review will not find it here. This is mainly to let you know what I thought of the script, speaking specifically to the themes present, not specific story elements. Hope you enjoy this early preview of what I think is going to be the best Crow film since the first film. Take care.....come what may.
MadmanOz sends this along from Sci Fi Wire: Boreanaz talked to Sci Fi Wire today about his character in "The Crow : Wicked Prayer". "They're two buddies that grew up together, but fell apart somewhere, because of a love triangle around this girl, Lily [Emmanuelle Chriqui], who was an Indian," Boreanaz said. "So there are a lot of racial elements to it. There's a lot of angst between miners and Indians and casinos. It brings together so much vulnerability and conflict." Crash is "a Bible-Belt kind of victim in prison," Boreanaz said. "He has this gang of four—the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. ... Tara Reid plays my love interest as far as my relationship is concerned with the gang members." Dennis Hopper plays El Nino, "the guy who pretty much turned me into Satan," Boreanaz added. Boreanaz said that he's "really looking forward" to working with Hopper and Mungia (Six-String Samurai). Now that Angel is wrapping up its fourth season, Boreanaz won't have much down time before starting Wicked Prayer. "We start shooting in June," he said. "We're shooting in Utah." Wicked Prayer Growing Up Right now, we are refining the Wicked Prayer section - it is evolving! We're getting ready for a large amount of Crow info, so we've created a news section, a script review section, images, soundtrack details, reviews, interviews and of course, you'll be able to find all the old info on Lazarus, along with its script reviews. If you have careful eyes, we will often update cast, crew and other details over in the Wicked Prayer section without announcing them in the News section, so visit early and visit often!
Justin sends us this from Fangoria.com: May 4: David Boreanaz talks CROW: WICKED PRAYER FANGORIA caught up with ANGEL's David Boreanaz over the weekend and got the lowdown on his upcoming role in CROW: WICKED PRAYER. "It just came to fruition about two months ago," Boreanaz says. "I read the script and I loved it. I loved the dialogue, the pace and the rhythm of it. "It's called WICKED PRAYER because it's a wicked script," the actor says of the screenplay by director Lance [SIX STRING SAMURAI] Mungia and longtime CROW producer Jeff Most. "Dimension thinks it's the best script that's ever been written as far as the CROW series goes. It takes place pretty much in a small Arizona mining town, which sets it apart from the other ones. Ed Furlong is going to play the Crow, which I think is an interesting choice, and I'm real excited to see him play it. My father was killed, so there's a lot about revenge in the story." After doing so much ass-kicking on four seasons (thus far) of ANGEL, CROW: WICKED PRAYER will finally see Boreanaz take those skills to the big screen. "There are going to be a lot of fights," the actor promises. "The coordinator from DAREDEVIL [David Lea] is doing it. I don't start training with him until Saturday, but I've been training since January—not necessarily just for this role—but to get back in shape for something that would be coming for me on for hiatus. I work out every day, I do two workouts a day, I play ice hockey once a week, so there's a lot of stuff. I'm pretty tired come Saturday." As for whether he feels that Dimension is trying to jumpstart the franchise back into theaters after the direct-to-video trip of CROW: SALVATION, the actor is philosophical. "I don't know," admits Boreanaz. "My job is to play the character, and I'm not involved in anything else. I see a script that's story-driven and I'm motivated by the choices of the other people involved. To be able to work with a legend like Dennis Hopper is such a cool experience that I jumped all over it." CROW: WICKED PRAYER starts shooting this June in Utah, and co-stars Tara Reid.
David Boreanaz spoke with TVguide.com recently and the interview is up on their site. After talking about a possible 5th season for his series "Angel" and teaming back up with former cast-mate Eliza Dushku's, who played the role of rogue slayer Faith on "Angel", he had this to say about Wicked Prayer: Until then (possibly re-teaming with Dushku), Boreanaz will content himself by channeling Angelus as a Satanic gang leader who murders Edward Furlong and Tara Reid in The Crow 4: Wicked Prayer, which begins shooting next month. "The script was really enticing," he says enthusiastically. "It's just wicked - and I really wanted to work with Dennis Hopper. Thanks to Rat for the heads up. Take care…..come what may Wicked Prayer Section Growing Our Wicked Prayer section is constantly growing with new info and new cast members added! Take a look for all the latest on Wicked Prayer.
