Miscellaneous Crow Updates

Our good friend Abraham Rodriquez passed along this site which has a petition to get The Crow back in theaters this year for a 10 year anniversary re-release. The site is up to over 600 signatures, lets add another 600 more!!

http://www.petitiononline.com/crwr/petition.html

For those that didn’t get a 2004 calendar, the folks over at www.calendarmart.com still have some Crow 2004 calendars available. The images are nothing new, mostly the same poses of Brandon in costume that we have become accustomed to. If you don’t have a Crow calendar this is a nice addition to your collection. Check out the calendar here.

We continue to keep an extra ear and eye out for Wicked Prayer release news. As soon as we get wind of something, we will let you know.

Take care…..

Wicked Prayer Mention

The Comics Continuum posts this snippet of Rena Owen talking up Wicked Prayer:

RENA OWEN TALKS THE CROW

Rena Owen, who plays a supporting role in The Crow: Wicked Prayer, told The Continuum that the film appears to be in good shape.

"I just talked to the director (Lance Mungia) last week, and he's really happy with it," Owen told The Continuum at last weekend's Wizard World Los Angeles.

The Crow: Wicked Prayer stars Edward Furlong in the lead role. The cast also includes David Boreanaz, Tara Reid and Dennis Hopper. The film was shot in Salt Lake City, Utah last summer.

Owen plays Mary, the wife of a preacher who is killed by the gangleader played by Boreanaz. Owen worked with Boreanaz before, guest-starring on Angel.

"Eddie's great and I think David is the epitome of a leading man," Owen said of her castmates.

Owen said she thought the first Crow movie was ground-breaking.

"It blew me away, kind of like the first Star Wars," she said. "Back then, it was really cutting-edge stuff."

There have been reports that Wicked Prayer might be a direct-to-video release, but Owen said she hasn't heard when or where the film will come out.

"I don't know," she said. "I just can't wait to see it."

The Crow and Wicked Prayer Mentioned In Latest Wizard Issue

Our good friend Adam passes along this piece of info:

Hey, in the april 04 issue of Wizard (#150), there is an article about upcoming movies based on comic books with a mention of Wicked Prayer. Brandon Lee was named a "Mack-daddy". There was a trivia question that goes "Who was seen stealing a television from Gideon's burning pawn shop in The Crow" and the answer (of course) was "comic book artist and Crow creator
James O' Barr. And theres even a little drawing of Eric along with other Comic Book heroes. It felt really good to see Eric in the middle of these legendary comic book characters. But anyway, its also good to see this underground comic book be remembered and hopefully have a big impact in the
comic book world right up there around batman, and spider-man.

If you have a bookstore close, may want to get down there and get this copy of Wizard to check out the story and pics for yourself. Thanks to Adam for passing this information on.

Take care.....

DragonFly Report From MegaCon

Crow Fans across the South came to the Dragonfly Booth at Megacon first thing on March 5th to see their dark idol, James O'Barr and James accommodated them!

Friday: we had fans lined up as the show opened waiting for signatures, sketches, and of course, the Dance of the Dead Red Nights Exclusive which is SOLD OUT! Check ebay for resales, some of which will be from retailers who were clamoring to pick up the few remaining pieces! We gladly accommodated as our motto at Dragonfly is to support those who support us! The #1 of this limited 100 piece sold at the ACTOR auction for $125!

Saturday: A madhouse....literally.....James sketched all day and unfortunately, we had to turn some fans away who needed their sketches that day since they were leaving. We can tell you the same thing we told them, contact Matt at the CrowFanClub if you'd like to commission a sketch from James. Unfortunately, the line (which was often 15 people deep), was simply overwhelming and until he becomes ambidextrous....well folks, he is just one man, but one accommodating man for sure. He signed stacks of books for both fans (and dealers something not all artists will do)!

Sunday: A little slower but right to the end we were busy with Crow fans, one of whom traveled a few hours and to get her travel money went above and beyond: she wrestled in cream corn for $110 cash in order to be able to make the show!!!

Don't forget about the latest contest ABaHB & DragonFly are working together on. DragonFly is down to less than 60 blank Return statues! With the incredible price break DragonFly is offering to ABaHB visitors, these babies are going fast. Remember, send pictures of your self-painted Return statues to abahb1@hotmail.com . Contest runs through May 31st. Also remember, these are to be hand painted statues. No statues that have been colored or altered by Paint Shop Pro or like software will be accepted.

Take care.....

DragonFly Offers ABaHB Visitors Another Contest & Special Offer

And now for something completely different for Crow fans.  Dragonfly created each of their new Crow pieces in a limited edition number of blanks. Why? There are a lot of Crow fans out there that are artists, budding artists, or those that just like to play around with paints.  Here's your chance to be creative and maybe win a prize in the process.

The Return statue was produced in a limited 250-piece run and typically retails for $35.00.  Dragonfly is offering you a chance to compete in this contest and will cut you a break on the blanks and if you decide you might need more than one, will let you purchase up to 3 at a pretty fair price. Once again, DragonFly has created a link for A Boy and His Bird readers to get a special deal as follows:

One Crow Return Blank - $15.99 (with shipping)
Two Crow Return Blanks - $26.99 (with shipping)
Three Crow Return Blanks - $36.99 (with shipping)

Buy one to paint....one to screw up....one to complete your collection of Return statues (there are 5 all together, details are on the site).

Artists, even casual artists, especially wannabee artists, are not the best with deadlines. We are giving you until May 31st to complete your work of Crow Art!  Order now...get started....toss it against the wall and start again if you like.

Once you have finished your statue, take a picture and send it to abahb1@hotmail.com . A word to the wise, if you decide to play in the Devil's Workshop, some call it Photo-Shop or similar program, we have ways of telling by using our secret powers and you will be disqualified.

DragonFly has left the judging up to us. Prizes as usual, will be worthy of the effort:

1st Prize - Crow Return Artist Proof
2nd Prize - Crow Return Convention Variant
3rd Prize - Crow Lunchbox and Signed Sketchbook by James O'Barr

So get out to the site and order your statue/s, whip out your brushes, kick back your favorite brew and go to work!

Take care…..come what may

Flesh and Blood Back in Print

Just when we thought we'd seen the end of Kitchen Sink Press, Dark Horse Comics comes to the rescue! Look for a release on July 28. Here's the solicitation from the Comics Continuum:

THE CROW: FLESH & BLOOD TPB

Written by James Vance, art by Alex Maleev.

One of the most haunting and compelling comics stories ever told has been resurrected by Dark Horse. People once believed that when a person dies, a crow carries their soul to the land of the dead although sometimes, something so terrible happens that a sadness is carried with it and the soul cannot rest. Sometimes--just sometimes--the crow can bring that soul back to make the wrong things right.

In the midst of a rural land-rights struggle, federal conservation officer Iris Shaw is murdered in a bombing by a rag-tag band of right-wing activists. Little do her killers know that Iris wasn't their only victim and now, with the help of the Crow, Iris must exact vengeance not only for her own death but also that of her unborn baby. Raised from her grave and armed with cold-blooded hatred and a few deadly weapons, Iris hunts down her killers one by one. But if exacting ultimate pain is the goal, when does vengeance cross the line to brutality? And what is the price to the soul?

96 pages, black and white, $9.95, in stores on July 28.

Merchandise Update & Crow Article That Is a Must Read

David Jeffers from CrowColl has sent us some great updates on merchandise and an article from Celluloidshockers that I know everyone is going to love.

First up, a very detailed history-to-present article is up at Celluloidshockers in regard to the Crow. The first part of it is available and you need to go check it out. This is one of the best articles we have seen on the net that details the history of The Crow from comic to film.

Next up, David was out shopping and ran across a man who was selling artist prints of, among other stars, Bruce Lee. David asked if the merchant had anything on Brandon and he was shown a fantastic print, which David immediately purchased. Here is a scan of the print. This really does no justice to the size and quality. David says it is a fantastic artist print. If you are interested in ordering the print, contact the seller via email .

Finally, over at Hot Topic they have the NECA produced Crow Never Dies journal and pen for sale. The journal is $7.99 and the pen is $2.99. A decent journal, not on the scale of the DragonFly sketchbook, but something you may like to add to your collection.

Thanks to David for all this great info.

Take care…..
