ABaHB News March 2001
Chaos is set to put out the first Crow comics since the Image series ended back in 1999. The initial story arc will be a crossover with Lady Death. The first volume is due out in September of this year. If all goes well with the crossover, we can expect new Crow stories without Draven, as well as possible reissues of previous Crow stories.
Ramping up of the project continues. The script is being finalized with a specific lead actor/actress being courted to play the title role. As we have reported over and over, the Lazarus rumors and Angeline Jolie rumors are all false. Lazarus is definitely dead as a Crow project and Jolie will not be in Crow 4.
The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films has announced its nominations for the 28TH annual Saturn Awards to be held this summer in Los Angeles. The ceremony honors the best in genre entertainment from 2001. Mark Dacascos latest movie BROTHERHOOD OF THE WOLF is nominated for 8 awards, to include a best supporting nod for him! Here is the complete list of nominations the film has garnered: BEST ACTION/ADVENTURE/THRILLER FILM BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR (Mark Dacascos) BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS (Monica Bellucci) BEST DIRECTION BEST WRITING BEST MUSIC BEST COSTUME BEST SPECIAL EFFECTS In most cases, BOTW is up against Lord Of The Rings and/or Harry Potter. So BOTW has its work cut out for it to topple two of last years top money makers. Good luck to Mark on his best supporting actor nomination. Thanks to Carla for passing this information on. Take care.....come what may.
After a rest, we have opened up the ABaHB Poll. We want to know if you would like to see a movie made about Brandon's life. Thanks to Jessica for sending in the suggestion for the poll. A very intriguing question. This will no doubt bring about more questions for us to ask your opinion on. Take care.....come what may.
While waiting to start shooting TRUE LIES 2 with James Cameron and Arnold Schwarzenegger, comedian Tom Arnold has signed onto Joel Silverman's new action production, CRADLE TO GRAVE. Tom Arnold finds himself alongside stars DMX and Jet Li, who headline the film as a crime boss and secret agent who must join forces to defeat a greater evil. Tom Arnold is going to play an arms dealer encountered by the unlikely partners. Andrzej Bartkowiak, who directed DMX in Silverman's EXIT WOUNDS, directs GRAVE." This information was reported on Cinescape and was passed on by Carla of the Mark Dacascos Yahoo E-Group. The "greater evil" spoken of in the description above is the character that Mark will take on. Looking forward to this movie and seeing Mark get to be a bad ass! Take care.....come what may.
We have more additions to the Fan Fiction section, notably Tod Slocum's 'The Lost Bird.' Have a look around and enjoy!
More photos from David Ullman are here for us to enjoy, remember you can view the entire history of Ullman's Crow film here!
David Ullman's visit to New York with his 'making of' Crow feature was an experience, not only for him, but for us Crow Fans as we saw in the entire trip in pictures. David has more to share with us, however, with four new pictures to enjoy. You an find the entire ABaHB behind the scenes of David's film here, along with the archived pictures.
As most know, we feature quite a bit of fan fiction on the site. Well, we have a treat for everyone today. We have a fan who is a designing student. She was moved by THE CROW to create a dress that she felt was reflective of the mood and pay homage to the movie. Here is a brief bio and then check out the fantastic pictures of her creation: "My name is Carrie and I have been interested in the film, 'The Crow' ever since I first saw it a few years ago!! I think it is an amazing film, which inspired me for my A-Level design project. I decided to base my project on 'The Crow', and decided it would be really interesting to design a costume that could be worn in the film. I came up with loads of ideas as the theme was really interesting, but this was the design I chose to make. I tried to give the dress a gothic and original approach. I watched the film again and got ideas to use within my own design, and finally came up with this. I think the dress turned out well and I really enjoyed making it. My other main interestes include art and music. If anyone would like to give me any feed-back on their opinions of my design then I would appreciate it. My e-mail address is : cazzac78@hotmail.com " >> Picture 1 >> Picture 2 >> Picture 3 >> Picture 4 >> Picture 5 << We appreciate Carrie sending us these photos and sharing with us all her creation. It is a beautiful dress and really helps to capture the mood of the film. We see big things happening for Carrie! Thanks again for sharing. Take care.....come what may
David Ullman sent along some more pictures from his visit to New York. Thought we would share them with you. Make sure to get your questions for Eric Mabius in by the end of this week. Send them to llcruize@yahoo.com . Take care......come what may.
Remember to mail to us with questions for Eric Mabius and we'll have a follow up story soon. As for the rest of the site, have a look around for any sections that may have been updated! In particular, the Fan Fiction section has been growing, so watch that carefully.
As most know, Eric Mabius, who portrayed Alex Corvis in THE CROW: SALVATION, is part of the RESIDENT EVIL cast. Eric recently let us know his reaction to the first full screening he was a part of for the movie and the experience of making the film. "I saw the first screening of the film finally and I am so excited for everyone to check it out! It's such an indescribable relief to have such a solidly terrifying, roller coaster of a film out for public consumption, at last. I am ecstatic, to say the least. I can safely say, RE is the coolest project I have ever been involved with. Strong female characters, talented, well-rounded, international cast and special effects that make the skin crawl---a perfect date movie to grab on to the person next to you!" "The premiere is at the Mann's Chinese Theatre on Hollywood Blvd. The biggest radio station in LA, KROQ(106.7) is hosting the premiere and giving away a ton of tickets. Of course it'll also be out later that week in the theatres." Eric has graciously volunteered to answer questions in regard to RESIDENT EVIL. If you have anything you would like to ask Eric, send your questions to LLcruize@yahoo.com and I will compile all the questions and send them to Eric. Server Problems ABaHB has been down recently, preventing us from any updates, we're sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused, but be assured that we're back to normal now! Fan Fiction We've updated the Fan Fiction yet again, so click over and read the Crow Creativity!
Here comes the Comics Continuum with more details: "Brian Pulido of Chaos! Comics said that The Crow creator James O'Barr will be involved in the Lady Death/The Crow crossover. "James O'Barr will be providing a cover," Pulido said. "I can't say who's writing or drawing it yet." The one-shot crossover is targeted for a September release. Pulido hinted of more Crow comics coming from Chaos! but did not elaborate. "We'll be making some announcements," he told The Continuum."
