City of Angels Game

John Carvalho sends along this link to the City of Angels game that hasn't been around for quite a while! The link points to a movie file promo of the game. It met questionable reviews back in '96, but keen players can catch little Crow references throughout the game. Click over to kill some time.

Mysteryclock.com / Proyas Updates

Our good friend Rene Zain of the Believe in Angels website has sent along the newsletter to Mysteryclock.com - Alex Proyas' official website. It seems Proyas is back at work, doing what he does best behind the camera and all you have to do is read the following;

GARAGEDAYS.COM COMING SOON

Plans are currently underway for the Official "Garage Days" Website, which will bring you behind the scenes news, photos and QuickTime movies from Alex Proyas' latest feature film. Set in Sydney, Australia, "Garage Days" tells the story of a young inner city garage band and their efforts to try and make it the music business. Kick Gurry ("Buffalo Soldiers", "Looking for >Alibrandi") stars as Freddy, the bands charmingly naïve lead singer, with Maya Stange ("In A Savage Land") starring opposite as Kate, the source of Freddy¹s musical inspiration. AFI Award Winner Pia Miranda ("Looking for Alibrandi") co-stars as Tanya, the bands sassy bass player, while newcomers Brett Stiller and Chris Sadrinna complete the bands line-up as brooding lead guitarist Joe, and chemically enhanced drummer Lucy respectively. Stay tuned for the launch date and URL address.

The Crow & Mark Dacascos Sites Join Forces

As we mentioned on Tuesday, an effort is underway to see what fans think about a Stairway to Heaven finale 2hr movie. We are going to send our poll results to Pressman. Along with ABaHB, there are other sites that have joined forces with us to support this endeavor. CrowsLoft and DeadMan Watching are getting the word out and pointing the masses to the sites. We also have two Mark Dacascos sites joining in. The U.S. site, run by Mystique and the German site run by Monika, are running polls. Hopefully, united, our voices can be heard.

Below are the links to these sites.

ABaHB Visitors Give Salvation Thumbs Up

In one of our most lopsided polls, visitors to ABaHB voted Salvation a resounding thumbs up. Asked what your opinion was of Salvation, 200 people responded. We had 69% give Salvation a thumbs up. On the negative side, 17% gave it a thumbs down. There were 7% who had no opinion either way and 7% of those who responded have not seen it yet. Given there is 7% that have not seen Salvation, it may well have garned a 70% or higher approval rate.

Now, the new poll is up. We want to know what STH fans and Crow fans in general, think of a 2hr finale movie for STH. As many know, Mark Dacascos has announced he will not do another season if it were ever to happen. However, he would like to do a 2hr movie. He feels closure is needed for the series. We want to see how many of the fans out there feel the same way. Not only ABaHB, but several other sites are also running this same poll. We are all going to gather the results and send them into Pressman. It may or may not do any good, but atleast the people will be heard. The poll will be up for an extra week so as to give everyone the opportunity to vote. So please, make sure you go to the poll either here or at the other sites and vote. We will get a complete list of all sites who are participating and will post them here in the news.

Hellbound To Be Last Crow Novel

Harper has announced that "Hellbound" will be the last Crow novel. Available online since last month, the novel finally hits retail store shelf's on July 26th. According to a report that can be found at Cinescape Harper promises that the last novel will break new ground. Those who frequent ABaHB and saw our review of "Hellbound" know that we gave the novel a very favorable review and reported that it broke the boundaries of previous stories. I whole heartedly encourage everyone to check out this novel. It is, in my opinion, the best of the series. The old adage that the best is saved for the last is true in this case.

July; Back to Normal

Last month saw a resurgence in The Crow to some extent; there was the Australian release of Salvation and the international release of Hellbound, so does July measure up? Not really. Unfortunately, July seems to continue the trend of no new releases, but fear not Crow Fans, if there are any changes, we'll keep you posted!

No Crow At San Diego ComicCon 2001

The San Diego ComicCon will take place this year on July 19th through 22nd. Unlike last year, there is no Crow presence, either in product or persons connected with the franchise. Even the venerable convention attendee James O'Barr will not be present. The only thing that might interest Crow fans is on Friday, July 20th, there is a discussion in reference to DVDs. It promises to be educational as there will be numerous DVD producers on hand to talk about how DVDs are put together. What goes into the decision process of what does and doesn't end up on them. Space limitations, etc. Of special note to Crow fans, Mark Rance will be one of the panel experts. He was part of the Crow DVD reissue.

Boycott Gets A Small Victory

In what can be viewed as a minor victory for the Miramax boycott supporters, the latest Miramax sequel, 'Scary Movie 2', was beaten at the box office this weekend by 'Cats&Dogs' even though the kid friendly flick played on fewer screens and had less pre-hype than the sequel to the record breaking Miramax movie. Scary 2's take for the three day weekend of 21 million was half the opening (42.3 million) that its predecessor brought in during its opening weekend last July. Total take for the movie to date is 34.5 million due to it being premiered on Wednesday, July 4th, thus having an extra two days of ticket sales. Even with the extra two days, Scary 2 could not muscle out the stiff competition to set any records.

I am reminded of a saying for which I am known to repeat often......."Every dog has his day." I do believe that is the case here (pun intended).

Of course, good news is followed by bad news. Though it seems 'The Crow' franchise is in perpetual limbo, inferior movie's are getting the sequel treatment from Miramax/Dimension. It seems that the box office powerhouse 'Dracula 2000' (sarcasm intended) has a sequel in the works. Just what we need, another sequel of another Dracula movie. I guess since the genre hasn't been done to death, why not go back to the coffin one more time.

Take care.....amf

STH episodes for July

July finishes the first run of the STH 1st season. They will start back with the first episode on the 22nd and apparently run through it again. With the recent news that Mark Dacascos will not do a 2nd season (though is open for a made for TV movie that brings closure to the story), the nail seems to be in the STH coffin. I think most STH fans would agree that without Mark, there should be no further STH episodes centering on Eric Draven. The only way I can see fans supporting another STH season would be if they decided to focus on Hannah Foster. However, I think Mark's exit shuts the book permanently on any hope of another season. Monday, July 9th, SciFi will show 5 episodes back to back as part of their "Super Hero Land" programming on Mondays. Take care…..amf

Catch Up

Well, if you haven't bought it yet, you'd better run out and get Hellbound, it was released while we were away on the 26th of last month! On the 27th, however, syrecius tells us that Salvation was released in Australia! So, these are very important dates, let's hope it keeps The Crow alive.

Yesterday's News

Well, if you couldn't tell by now, last month's news has been purged to the ABaHB Archive! So, if you're wanting a bit of a history lesson, it may do you worth while to have a look! Also, some news articles have been cut recently because of that purge, but it was only for a few hours. Sorry for any inconvenience!

Zabel Says STH Grounded

The Comics Continuum recently ran this article. Coupled with Dacascos' recent comments, it looks like STH really is gone;

"Bryce Zabel, executive producer of The Crow: Stairway to Heaven, told The Continuum that a return of the television series seems very unlikely now. "I think the Crow rumors are still pretty much that," Zabel told The Continuum."

Out Of Print Crow Books Available

Barnes and Noble has an "out of print" section on their website which contains some hard to find Crow novels such as the COA novelization, original graphic novel in both softcover and hardcover, as well as some of the other Crow books that Harper/Collins and Kitchen Sink Press have put out over the years that are now out of print. Go to their site www.bn.com . In the upper tool bar there is an "out of print" section. Click on it and then in the search field, put "The Crow". There are about 46 Crow books available.

Thanks to SugarRat for posting this information at the Chamberoom.
