Thanks to CrowsAngel for passing on the news.

Zuckerman Photo Available For A Worthy Cause

Robert Zuckerman, still photographer for the first two CROW movies, contacted ABaHB recently to inform us of a personal tragedy that has affected his family. Outside of the movies, Robert's pictures are a major element of THE CROW. Many of us to this day use photos that he took during the making of THE CROW and COA on our sites.

Robert's sister is gravely ill with Spinocerebeller Degeneration. To help defer the cost of her care, he is offering a signed print of the famous "Cathedral" picture for sale (picture of Brandon in full costume, seated on a large chair in a cathedral style room). It is a limited edition of 1,100 copies. The prints will be high-quality, lightfast archival 13"x19" size on watercolor paper, numbered and signed by Zuckerman. Each signature will be notarized for authenticity. As a bonus, each print will be accompanied by a signed copy of his poem "Brandon", printed on fine-art paper, suitable for framing.

This is the first time since his pictures were made available 9 years ago, that Robert has offered one of them for a profit. His pictures have been used on countless t-shirts and other merchandise with no money going back to him. Only now, with his sister gravely ill, is he attempting to profit from the sale of his work. And in this case, it is not for personal gain, but to help out with the care of his sister.

Go to his site, www.wonderhall.com . It is full of information detailing his sister's condition, the history behind the famous "Cathedral" picture, his decision to offer it for sale and how you can order the print. He will update the site with current information on his sister so everyone is kept abreast of her battle.

We are asking if you have a local comic store, see if they will allow you to place an ad on their door promoting the site, as well as let you put some copies of the order form in their stores. There are a great many fans that do not go out on the net, so we need to reach all fans that would want to purchase this print. I personally will be going to my two local comic stores and placing order forms as well as promotion fliers.

This is a worthy cause for us to get behind. Even if you're unable to purchase a print, by getting the word out, you will be helping Robert's family.

Take care.....amf

O'Barr Non-Crow Work

Aztek, regular visitor to the ChambeRoom, recently posted some fantastic James O'Barr artwork (non-Crow) that he has on his site. The first page has two Batman pictures that O'Barr had drawn. If you remember from our update last Friday, during DragonCon 2000, James had talked about doing a Batman project. These were his early interpretations of how he would do the character. So go give them, along with the other stuff a look. Take care.....amf

O'Barr Conversation From Dragon Con 2000 Posted On Amazon

In a conversation that took place during the July 2000 Dragon Con in Atlanta, Georgia, Crescent Blues has posted some comments that O'Barr made in an interview during the convention. Very interesting comments, some, contradictory to what other online groups have reported. O'Barr talks about everything from the first movie, to Salvation and the TV series. So go give it a look. Again, remember, the information is over a year and a half old, so there are references to things that had not yet taken place, or were just taking place at the time of the interview, to include Pressman trying to retain the rights to STH.

Thanks to SugarRatt over at the ROOM for posting this site.

Proyas' "Garage Days" Report

Garage Days: "The Crow" Director Alex Proyas is doing his own "Almost Famous" style flick next and one crucial scene was shot at the rock festival Homebake in Sydney over the weekend. 'Sam' was amongst the moshers and has this report:

"Standing near the front of a crowd of hundreds in front of the main stage at Sydney's rock festival Homebake I was present at the shooting of the upcoming Alex Proyas film Garage Days, consequently I was an extra for the film. The shooting took place in between a fifteen minute break after the band Gerling had finished. The stars from the SBS program 'Pizza' came out to tell us what to do during the shoot, they explained that the actors would come out and play as if they were a normal band and we just had to stand there and watch and then later they would take specific shots of the crowd.

There was a camera right at the back of the stage, a camera on a crane swooping over the audience and various camera men coming out on to the stage at different points. There was supposed to be a helicopter coming over with a camera shooting film however at no point did I hear or see one. The four band members came out, I only recognized to Pia Miranda and Kick Curry (both from 'Looking for Alabrandi'), looking as they have in all the publicity stills. Then as the cameras rolled fake security guards came out and took the band away, Kick Curry kicked and struggled, I believe the premise was that they had snuck on stage.

They then came back out and played three songs. The songs were bland and very forgettable. One had the chorus of 'squeeze me' and another something about 'something sweet', the other I have no recollection of. One of the songs had been dedicated to a person so perhaps a character in the film. They then the left the stage and there was no big fuss. Then came the specific crowd shots which compromised of us looking bored, being excited, applauding and then finally chanting out FREDDY (Kick Curry's character I believe or could be the band name but I doubt it). During this the crowd was pretty uncooperative which was very funny, they began to chant Bodyjar (the next band due to come on) and this did not please the people up on the stage. An interesting experience"

More Crow Merchandise News

Mad Stan has confirmed the existence of a new CROW snow globe that KrOw over at the ChambeRoom had reported about a month ago. The snow globe can be found at Hot Topic. The globe is described as having a carving of Eric leaning against Shelly's headstone. When you shake it, tiny black crows float through the water, making it look like they are flying around Eric. The base is carved to look like stone and has the raised CROW logo. According to sources we have contacted, it is not an officially licensed product. But for the CROW collector that is looking for items based on the movie, it could be something worth picking up. Mad Stan also reported that Hot Topic had journals with Brandon's picture on them and a couple of T-shirts. If you have a Hot Topic in your area, may be worth a trip down there to check out these items.

Thanks to Mad Stan for the update and KrOw for his initial report.

Poe's "Raven" Being Developed For The Bigscreen

In news related to the CROW, it seems the epic Edgar Allan Poe poem "The Raven" is going to see a big screen adaptation. As fans of the CROW movie and comic know, Poe's poem was an influence on O'Barr as well as the movie script. Dark Horizons has received word from The Guardian and Ananova that the movie is set to be directed by Ron Howard. Kim Basinger & Tracey Ullman have signed on to star with Greg Kinnear, Linda Hunt and Richard E. Grant close to signing on as well. The story is said to revolve around two women fighting for the love of a TV producer in modern day LA. It is set to start production next summer. Not real sure how this is going to be connected to the poem, but we will keep an eye on Dark Horizons for more news on this.

Crow Novel

Back around 4 years ago, a Crow fan named Jeanette Barcroft completed a fan fiction novelization of THE CROW. She has received widespread praise for the novel, to include compliments from James O'Barr. Recently, on the Community Forum at thecrow.com, Kristin posted a link to this novel. It is a fantastic piece of fan fiction and we highly recommend you give it a look. Thanks to Kristin for posting the link to the novel.

Another Month

In the usual ABaHB tradition, the news for the month has been pushed back! Oddly enough, the past month has been one of our largest, and with the future looking good for The Crow, things can only get better!
