Boreanaz Signed in Crow 4?

Via TV Guide Online, Karen sends this along:

SOMETHING TO CROW ABOUT: David Boreanaz — whose bloody brilliant WB drama Angel has yet to be picked up for a fifth season — has signed on to play the lead bad guy in the fourth instalment of the Crow film series, titled Wicked Prayer. "I didn't even know there was a third [Crow movie]," Boreanaz laughs. (Don't feel bad. I didn't either.) Dennis Hopper and Eddie Furlong co-star in pic, which starts shooting in June.

Wicked Prayer Rumor Follow Up

We reported last week some information in regard to rumored casting for "Wicked Prayer". This week, we have received two reports, one from a very reliable source, that some of the casting reported has happened. First off is the casting of Dennis Hopper. We have been told by two different folks that he will be in the movie. These sources are not within the production, but have received information from very reliable sources. Whether or not Hopper will play the rumored "El Nino" character is not for certain, but it appears his involvement is set. Another previously rumored casting choice, Macy Gray, appears to also be set to happen. Along with these casting decisions, a new name has been brought up, Yuji Okumoto. He has been in mostly B-rated movies and played bit parts in movies such as 2001's "Pearl Harbor". Not sure what character he is attached to. We have received no further confirmation of the Tara Reid and David Boreanaz talks to be in the film. We shall see if those two pan out in the end or just become false leads.

Along with these casting rumors, we have been told that the first week in June is the set timeframe for the cameras to start rolling. The location, Salt Lake City Utah, first identified by Edward Furlong during an interview a few weeks back, appears to be a lock as the location for shooting the film.

Again, we caution everyone that though this information comes to us as being "reliable", without confirmation from the production itself, we should view this information as rumor and not be surprised if they do not pan out in the end.

Thanks to Aryc Ogre for passing along some of the information.

Take care.....come what may.

Crow in Wizard

Our thanks to John who transcribed this from Wizard #140, page 110. Odd that it's the third sequel, it seems Wizard and others forget Salvation...

The Crow 4: Edward Furlong ("Terminator 2") will star in the third "Crow" sequel as the avenging spirit, this time taking on a group of Satanist bikers.

Help!

Well, Crow Fans, as you know, we've always tried to remain as advertising-free as possible at ABaHB, we consider it the right of the Crow Fan to have only the best information with as little hassle from companies as possible, for that we have the wonderful Crowfans.com and you to thank. But, we do need some financial aid as of late and to do so, we're having to sell some goodies from our own private Crow Collection! It is our loss, but hopefully a lucky Crow Fan's gain as we have for sale a large Crow lithograph print, fully mounted, 5 Crow videos, including Stairway to Heaven with behind the scenes footage (interviews with the cast) and a Crow collection of City of Angels and the first film, still in its original plastic. Also up for auction is the original set of Masterpacks Crow Card game from the 1994 film with rare pictures, still in their original box and sealed in plastic. To top that off, we have four Crow books and a City of Angels poster! We hope to find these a good home, so please help us out and take a look!

Rumor Mill Runs Rampant For Wicked Prayer

Karen from the UK fan site for David Boreanaz came to us with some interesting casting rumors recently. For those that don't know, David Boreanaz plays the lead character in the WB series "Angel". According to a source who has reported to Karen, seems David is in TALKS (as in, not signed, just talking about it) to take on the role of "Luc Crash" in THE CROW: WICKED PRAYER. Along with this, Karen says her source reports other POSSIBLE casting choices. For the role of Luc's girlfriend "Lola", Tara Reid is rumored to be a front runner (no reports of any conversations with her, but that she is someone that the production would like to sign). An interesting wish list casting rumor is Dennis Hopper for the role of "El Nino", a variation on the character "Raymundo" from the book. Rounding out the rumored wish list is Macy Gray to fill the role of a bodyguard for the "El Nino" character.

We caution everyone that this information is strictly rumor based. The reliability of the source reporting to Karen is not known. We are only reporting this because it does offer an interesting conversation piece of who could possibly be cast. We have no official word that any of these people have talked to Pressman and/or Dimension. As well, we have no official word that this is a valid wish list from the production as to who they would like to see fill these roles. So take this information with a big shaker of salt. We will keep you posted.

Take care.....come what may.

Furlong Works Out For Crow

Via Scfi.com, MadmanOz sends this along:

Edward Furlong told SCI FI Wire that he is preparing for his role in The Crow: Wicked Prayer by adopting a physical regimen and studying birds. "I'm on this special diet, I'm working out and I'm looking at crows all the time," Furlong said in an interview.

Though he's focusing on birdlike characteristics, Furlong said that his main goal is to be an action hero in the tradition of original Crow star Brandon Lee. "I really want to be dressed up in leather and go kick the hell out of people with rock music in the background," he said. "I think it would be cool."

Furlong added the film will shoot in Salt Lake City and that he has not signed on for more installments. "I think I'm going to be just attached to one, because he goes and gets his revenge, and then he goes back to death land." Furlong also said that he's confident his sequel will play in theaters, though the previous one, The Crow: Salvation, went straight to video. "I would hope so," he said.

O'Barr Commentary CD Review

Available exclusively through the Crowfanclub is a 2-disk CD movie commentary from James O'Barr for the first Crow film. James gives his first ever detailed recollection of the film production.

The first disk starts off with James giving a brief history of how the Crow comic came to be and its eventual creation as a film. From there, James turns on the DVD and starts watching the film and gives his insight to the production. Some of the information he details has been covered before by other commentaries, but for the most part, we are given new information from his unique perspective as creator of the characters on which the film is based. More so than any other time I have heard him speak, O'Barr sounds confident and comfortable during the commentary. A worry on my part was that his natural shyness and monotone style of delivery would make for a less than stellar commentary track. No worries here, O'Barr is in great form and his comfort has to be attributed to the setting that Matt Gillmore, webmaster of Crowfanclub, set him up with.

The first disk takes us up to the point of Albrecht's suspension. Switching over to disk #2, O'Barr gives us a "1-2-3" count to synch up with him before he continues with the commentary. The second disk has more periods of silence from James. I think this is due in part to his admitted displeasure with the supernatural themes used, especially Eric being vulnerable to being hurt if he helped someone. That, and the Skull Cowboy are his biggest complaints with the film. He felt the supernatural element was "Hollywood gratuitous". He comments that one of the best cuts of the movie was removing Skull Cowboy, he did not like the character at all. This was due to his character patronizing the audience by basically being there to explain things (not needed). Also, he comments that the effects were awful. Other than the supernatural element, he is very pleased with the film and comments that he would say 60% of his "vision" is represented by the film.

During the closing credits, James makes some interesting comments. He mentions that even though David Schow has garnered the lions share of credit for the script, John Shirley, credited co-writer, deserves most of the credit for the bulk of the story/script. Also, he (James) is adamant about there being a re-release of the film to theaters in a director's cut format.

I recommend this CD set to any fan of the film. James does a great job and is exactly how you would think he would be, honest and reflective. Each CD is labeled with original artwork from O'Barr. Give the Crowfanclub a visit to contact Matt about this must have Crow collectable.

Take care.

Furlong Talks About Wicked Prayer

Edward Furlong, tapped to be the lead in "THE CROW: WICKED PRAYER", talked about it last week and it was posted up on MTV.com and carried by Dark Horizons:

HOLLYWOOD - Edward Furlong shouldn't be too upset he wasn't asked to be in "Terminator 3," because now he's got an action franchise all his own.

Furlong will be wearing the white face paint and leather in the fourth installment of "The Crow" series.

"I think its going to be the best one," he said at last week's "Spun" premiere, where he arrived sporting a tight-fitting vintage Led Zeppelin T-shirt and a cast on his left arm. "I have this cast right now, but I'm working out," he said, emphasizing his enthusiasm about getting in shape for the role by showing off his right bicep.

"It's so dumb. I tripped in the kitchen," he explained. "I was going to get something to drink out of the fridge." Future household accidents notwithstanding, Furlong said he'll start shooting "The Crow: Wicked Prayer" in a couple of months.

The first "Crow" film starred Brandon Lee, son of martial arts legend Bruce Lee, as a rocker who returns from the dead to seek vengeance on a group of thugs. Lee was killed when a prop gun misfired on the set, but the movie was released in 1994 nevertheless. It was followed by two sequels, including 2000's "The Crow: Salvation" co-starring Kirsten Dunst ("Spider-Man"), and a short-lived TV series.

DMX was in talks to star in a fourth "Crow" movie as a gangster rapper who returns after being shot in a drive-by, but the project never materialized. This latest version reportedly centers on a new Crow who returns after being murdered by a group of bikers. "The story is, like, people taking peyote," Furlong said. "It's crazy."

Though he made a name for himself in films like "Terminator 2" and the weighty drama "American History X," Furlong said the appeal of doing "Wicked Prayer" is pretty simple. "I come in. I kill the bad guys. I'm the Crow. ... It's going to be dope!"

There is currently no release date scheduled for "The Crow: Wicked Prayer," which is being directed by Lance Mungia ("Six String Samurai").
