Condolences From ABaHB

Fans who visit ABaHB are aware that I am a frequent visitor to the Crow discussion room The ChambeRoom. Tragedy has struck there. A frequent visitor to that site and a fellow Crow fan, WEB, aka William Eugene Burton, was killed by a drunk driver on St Patrick's Day of this year. The tragedy rings all too familiar to fans of THE CROW. As most of us know, it was a drunk driver who killed James O'Barr's fiancée and inspired him to create THE CROW. We at ABaHB send our heart felt condolences and prayers to William's family and friends.

The response to William's death has been heartfelt and immediate. Those of us that only knew him from the posts at the ROOM feel the loss of his intelligent conversation, insightful commentary and warm, friendly manner.

I feel the need to say something in regard to this needless tragedy. If you, or someone you know, are going to drink, do not drive. Do not take another person away from those who love them. Your selfishness and stupidity should not result in someone dying. Have a sober friend drive you. Call a cab. Walk if you have to. Just do not go out and get drunk and then step behind the wheel of a car. You are no better than any other murderer out on the street who stalks innocent people.

The webmaster of the ChambeRoom, TwistedSpine, has created a tribute site dedicated to William. It contains tribute poems from those who loved and knew him. It also contains all of William's Crow art and his other work. He was a talented individual. We ask that you give the site a look and pay tribute to a fallen fellow Crow fan. But more importantly pay tribute to a fellow human soul, taken away far too soon.

Take care…..come what may.

David Schow Talks About The Crow Chronicles

Recently, we had a frequent visitor to ABaHB, MetalVamp, who was able to meet and speak with Crow screenwriter David Schow during a convention in New Jersey. She spoke with him mostly about the behind the scenes video "The Crow Chronicles" that was supposed to be on the collector's DVD re-release of The Crow, but was taken off due to legal and personal reasons. Here is Metal Vamp's full report from the conference:

I just got back from the Chiller convention in NJ. David Schow was really nice. I think I was the only person that was there asking question in regard to THE CROW. He took the time to talk to me and sign my Crow book. He said that he hopes to come back to the Chiller show on Halloween and premiere "Crow Chronicles". He said there were originally 13 tapes of behind the scenes footage shot during the production of the movie and that he would like to cut it down to about an hour or so. Edward Pressman is interested in making it available to the public when finished. He was really excited about the footage. David really wants this footage to be seen. He told me that the copy that appears on eBay is only one of the thirteen tapes he shot. Somehow someone got a hold of it and it got out. We started talking about the amount of people that are offering autographed stills of Brandon from The Crow. He said that any photograph of Brandon from The Crow that is signed is a fake. There were no stills or photographs for him to sign before his death. Any picture of him from The Crow that is signed is either a forgery or a facsimile. That's coming from someone that would know.

It was such a pleasure meeting him. Hopefully he will come back in October and preview the documentary.

Many thanks to MetalVamp for sending us this information. Hopefully, if David does return to the convention in October, MetalVamp can give us all another report.

Take care.....come what may.

Latest On Crow Still Photographer Robert Zuckerman

Robert reports that his sister Patti is still doing about the same. Doctors continue to search for the cause of her illness. Their tests have eliminated many possibilities, which is a good thing, but the exact cause still remains unknown . We continue to offer our prayers and thoughts to Robert, Patti and their entire family.

Robert will be the still photographer for Terminator 3. He is set to go back to L.A. in the next few months to begin work, which should last around 5 months. This is fantastic news for Terminator fans and fans of Robert's previous work, which of course includes The Crow and The Crow: City Of Angels.

Take care.....come what may.

Randall King Knives

It's safe to say that if you're reading this right now, you've seen one of Randall King's knives in action. Back in 1993, he was commissioned to work on the knives for 'The Crow', from Tin Tin's throwing knives to Top Dollar's 'Flame Dagger.' The artistry of these blades must be seen to be believed, so have a look at RandallKingKnives.com and realize just how much of a part these played in the film!

James O'Barr

James has been very quiet of late. No word on the countless projects he is said to be working on. As soon as we do get wind of something, will be sure to let you know.

The Latest On Mark Dacascos' New Movie

We have received more information on Mark's next movie, "Cradle 2 The Grave", from Carla. This report was posted on Comingsoon.net:

Warner Bros. Pictures has announced that the action thriller "Cradle 2 the Grave," starring Jet Li ("Romeo Must Die") and DMX ("Exit Wounds"), commenced principal photography in Los Angeles on March 11th. Also, a new cast member has been added. Kelly Hu, who was in the TV series "Martial Law", and star of the upcoming "The Scorpion King," has also joined the production.

Produced by Joel Silver, "Cradle 2 the Grave" will be directed by Andrzej Bartkowiak ("Romeo Must Die," "Exit Wounds") from a story by Reggie Rock Blythewood and John O'Brien, screenplay by John O'Brien and Channing Gibson.

Story premise:

When his daughter is kidnapped and held in exchange for priceless diamonds, the leader of a crew of highly skilled urban thieves (DMX) forges an unlikely alliance with a Taiwanese Intelligence officer (Jet Li) to rescue her. Their race against the clock to find the precious stones ultimately unravels a plot to distribute a deadly new weapon of war.

"Cradle 2 the Grave," which will be shot entirely in Los Angeles, also stars Anthony Anderson ("Exit Wounds"), Mark Dacascos ("Brotherhood of the Wolf"), Tom Arnold ("Exit Wounds") and Gabrielle Union ("Bring It On").

Crow Alum Becomes First To Receive An Oscar

Sorry for the delay with this report. I was in Colorado skiing when the Oscar broadcast was on and just now getting back into the office! Those who watched the Oscar awards show may have recognized Walter Goggins who, along with Ray McKinnon & his wife Lisa Blount, accepted an Oscar for their film "The Accountant" which won for best short film. Walter portrayed officer Stan Robbers in THE CROW: SALVATION. When I saw the people headed to the stage to pick up the Oscar, I thought that I recognized Walter. It was not until he stepped to the podium and started speaking that I finally realized who he was. To the best of my knowledge, he is the first Crow alum to be awarded an Oscar either pre or post Crow work. Our congratulations go out to Walter.

Take care.....come what may.

The Crow: Stairway To Heaven & Further TV Incarnations

As everyone knows, Mark Dacascos has gone on record that he would not want to do another season of STH if it were ever to happen. That has not killed the idea of a Crow weekly television series, though it has finally put the last nail in the STH coffin. Don't expect any development in this area for a few years.
