A Boy and His Bird News April 2001 In an ironic twist, Universal will be picking up the distribution rights to the new Mark Dacascos film "Brotherhood of the Wolf" (ironic because it was Universal that pulled the plug on the STH series). This picture originally filmed and released in France under the name "Le Pact De Loups" is based on a French legend set during the reign of Louis XV in 1765. In a rural province of France, a mysterious creature is laying waste to the countryside, killing women and children. Unseen and possessing enormous strength and near-human intelligence, the beast has eluded capture for years. Desperate to end the unrest, the King sends in a renowned scientist and his Iroquois blood brother (Dacascos). What these men find, when finally confronted with the true nature of the beast, is more shocking than anyone could have anticipated. The film has pulled in over 35 million in France. Directed by Christophe Gans. Along with Dacascos, stars Samuel Le Bihan, Monica Belluci (currently shooting the sequel to "The Matrix"), Jeremie Renier, Emilie Dequenne and Vincent Cassel. The film will be released stateside in the fall of 2001 under the Universal Focus label. The above report can be found on Cinescape online, www.cinescape.com Also, some recent news reported by Mark's official site www.dacascos.com . Mark began work on the 9th of April on "Scorcher," a film directed by James Seale. This movie (which also stars Rutger Hauer, John Rhys-Davies, and Tamara Davies) has Mark excited because this is his first film since the birth of his son Makoalani, and it will be his first time playing a father on camera. The movie will shoot in Southern California. To see pictures of his new son, as well as recent pictures of Mark and his family check them out at his official site http://www.dacascos.com/manf.html .

Graeme Revell has been interviewed by 'Music From the Movies' and has plenty to say. Here's just a small taste; "I think THE CROW contributed significantly to my career because many younger directors mark it as a milestone in movie and music genres. Many of these directors have little tolerance for older-style film scoring, though I personally see the place for both. In fact THE CROW itself benefits from a very warm string theme which comes as badly needed emotional release given the all-pervading darkness of the rest of it," Graeme reasons. Again, THE CROW is a score which consists of many different styles forming a unique soundscape of its own. How did the composer approach the film specifically in terms of different styles for different elements of the film? "It is strange that you refer to the elements of THE CROW as different styles I suppose you could say the trumpet theme for Ernie Hudson's cop character is resonant a little of 'noir', or that the use of guitars belongs to rock music, and that the ethnic things belong to world music. But these have always been part of my style. I have even been told that I don't have a particular style." Click here to check it out! Having Trouble... The server that hosts ABaHB has been down for the last day, but fear not, we're back and better than ever!

The folks at SciFi have released the episode names they are showing in May. It is pretty much as we reported, with the exception that they are showing "Birds Of A Feather" after "Never Say Die". This is a curious move since "Birds" shows Eric being released from jail, which is where he is last seen in "It's A Wonderful Death". Oh well, they are showing the episodes, so that is all that matters. http://abahb.crowfans.com/Reviews/TV/ April Schedule 22nd "Disclosure" (ep 12) 29th "People Vs Eric Draven" (ep 13) May Schedule 6th "It's a Wonderful Life" (ep 14) 13th "Never Say Die" (ep 16) 20th "Birds Of A Feather" (ep 15) 27th No episode

Lazarus or The Crow 4? Insiders say that Lazarus is now it's own entity, so to make up for this and the new direction of The Crow, we've changed the Crow 4 section around from Lazarus. So, where will The Crow 4 go from here? Will there even be a Crow 4? Time will tell, Crow Fans!
Another look over May's slate for Crow goods looks rather bleak at this point in time, Crow Fans, as it happens, there's nothing upcoming for the next two months! Still no sign of James O'Barr's long awaited re-released is coming, but we hope to have a special Crow treat in the way of that soon. So, if you want to kill some time, have a hunt through our archives or check out our many Crow Sections!
Some very creative and amazing Fan Fiction has flown our way recently, and we've just had the chance to put it all up! If you enjoy a good read, then look no further than clicking here and you'll see some marvellous examples of Crow Creativity!
Well, Crow Fans, in the way of merchandising, not much is slated for this month, as a matter of fact, nothing is! Financially, this is probably a good thing seeing as the price of the DVD was not a small one at all. Nevertheless, if anything changes on the merchandise front, we'll let you know!
~Nuria/Undedgurl, a member of the "corvus roadies", recently passed on this little tid bit of information on something new to expect from James: A friend of mine who is the publisher of Peregrine Entertainment (it's a comic book company) and also a good friend of James O'Barr, said he is publishing a book with a cover that was drawn by James and painted by Joseph Michael Linsner. A picture of it is on the "Upcoming Projects" page of the Peregrine website. Here's the site: http://www.peregrine-entertain.com/ Thanks to Nuria for the information. Of course, the big question is; when will James get to work on that reissue of "The Crow" and the new Crow story that has looooooong been rumored? In the "not a good sign" department, going into work this morning there was a dead Crow right in front of the main door of my building. This is very significant as you hardly ever see one of these birds laid out. Not the image I needed given all the events of the last 6 months. Take care......amf LLcruize
LL has written an article that takes a look at he content of the DVD and if it is worth it. The issues addressed by David Schow are also taken into this must-read article, so please click over there and have a read!

tWISTEd sPINe sends along some news on the Crow merchandise! "At least three Crow T-Shirts have been reissued and shipped to comic shops. All of them are copyrighted by J. O'Barr and feature artwork from the original comics. It was a thrill to see something Crow from O'Barr hanging on a rack in the comic shop, and just thought I would share the info for anyone who was not aware that these shirts are currently available."
Not only will Salvation have a theatrical run in Mexico City, but also a new report from a fan has advised us it was screened this past Tuesday in the Chicago area! Read up. MoViEMaN55 sends us this report: I live in Chicago and they had a special screening of "The Crow: Salvation" at the 900 N. Michigan Theaters on Tuesday, April 2nd. Paul Scanlan follows up his Mexico City report with this: Here I am again with some new news. Apparently "Salvation" will be released here on April 6th. It is not going to be called "Salvation" , just simply "Crow3". IMF is distributing it. I caught the new movie "Snatch" last Friday and there was a trailer for "Salvation" shown. It was like the DVD trailer but with some minor differences such as the addition of a voice over with "people once believed" and the background music was "Best Things" by Filter. I will confirm this for sure on the 6th and will get back to you. A major thanks to MoViEMaN55 and Paul Scanlan for their reports.
For fans that do not have a DVD player and want to access some extra Crow items, go and check out the Alex Proyas site www.mysteryclock.com . Go to the "Crow" section. Also, there are some never before seen production stills shot by David Schow which are also located in this section.

We posted a report from "Coming Attractions" on March 5th that had a quote from a Variety article dated March 2nd. It seems it has caused many of you to think there is a new Crow project being worked on from a year one premise. The quote went like this: "So did the franchise [The Crow] get run into the ground? Are we going to have to wait for The Crow: Year One?" This comment was made as a sarcastic response to "Lazarus" becoming a non-Crow entity and the theatrical debacle of "Salvation". The sarcasm comes from the current popularity of comic-to-movie franchises using the "year one" premise to jump-start them after disappointing box office results from sequels. Batman has a movie and a TV series premise based on year one storylines in the works, as well as Superman has a series entitled "Smallville" which is a year one type of premise. So, for the record, there is no year one Crow movie about to come out or being considered. Take care....amf LLcruize
David Schow has written an article for Gothic.net that is sure to make all Crow Fans talk. In the article, Schow discusses the involvement on the Crow DVD re-issue and what might have been. It's an amazing read and is worthy of your time, so click over and have a read. Thanks to: The Crow's Loft Salvation DVD Overview The last DVD in the series is dissected for your reading pleasure! If you don't know what to expect with the Salvation DVD, then you really should read LL's latest review that, much like the other reviews, goes in depth with every aspect of the DVD. Read the Salvation DVD review at; http://abahb.crowfans.com/Reviews/Movies/single/dvd3.html DMX Interview On the Steven Seagal website (www.stevenseagal.com) there is a webcast of the "Exit Wounds" premiere. The webcast includes an interview of DMX in which he makes a brief statement about his filming of "The Crow". He does not go into any details but he does mention that he is going to be filming the movie. Thanks to Sam Mattison for sending me this lead. CrowFinder

Hello everyone. I hope that many of you are finding it easier to locate copies of the reissued DVDs of the Crow movies. Even though we already had an early review of some of the more high-profile features on the DVDs (of which two features have since fallen victim to legal wrangling). I thought it would be good for those that are still a bit confused as to exactly what is and isn't on them, to get an honest, objective rundown of each DVDs contents. Another reason is I have grown weary of the number of fans who are posting so called "reviews" of the DVDs that are nothing more than gripe sessions that do not speak to what is on the DVDs, rather, what they personally wanted but didn't see. I am here to remedy that. I will lay out everything that is on the DVDs and then offer my own personal opinion on the features. I want you to atleast know what IS on the DVDs, with some detail. I will leave it up to YOU to decide if the DVDs are something you want to invest in. We will start with, of course, the first movie. The format of this one will be a bit different from COA and Salvation. I have held my personal opinion of the features until the "rating" section. Whereas, on the COA and Salvation features, I have my personal thoughts integrated with the feature descriptions and have a brief "rating" section. This is because "The Crow" has more features than the other two disks. We will post the reviews one at a time. Enjoy. Read the review at: http://abahb.crowfans.com/Reviews/Movies/single/dvd1.html Take care....amf LLcruize Marching Forward As is usual at ABaHB, all the news from the last month has been put back into the ABaHB Archives for future reference! Have a look through the archives if you enjoy your Crow History and have some time to kill.
